The College of Science at Wayne State University consists of nine
departments. Our PhD. program is the largest on campus and we
rank second in student credit hours to the College of Liberal Arts
and in second in external funding for research to the School of
Medicine. We are committed to a quality and broad education at the
undergraduate and graduate level and are active participants in
many of the university’s nineteen centers and institutes.
The focus of the College of Science can be described by the
following Mission Statement from our Strategic Plan:
"To make the College of Science at Wayne State University the
outstanding school of science among this country’s public,
urban universities by identifying and attracting high-quality
students and faculty, by developing well-trained graduates,
by encouraging and supporting teaching excellence at all levels,
and by fostering research programs which are competitive with
the nation’s finest public universities."
Students and faculty together are exploring, discovering and
making vital contributions to the community through stimulating
interdisciplinary courses and joint research projects. This
rare blending of research and teaching gives students a well-rounded
education, while providing faculty members with a range of options.
Your educational goals and aspirations are important to us!
